​​​​​​​​​​Conneaut Lake, PA, May 4, 2018 - Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society is sponsoring their third annual Paddlefest Sunday, August 5. Kayak enthusiasts from beginner to advanced are encouraged to join us for this event. The course is approximately 3 miles long, beginning at Fireman’s Beach, heading up the west side of the lake, into Huidekoper Bay, around Goat Island and returning to Fireman’s Beach. Optional Sprint Race for kayaks 12’ and under will follow main race. Trophies and cash prizes will be given in various catagories. Enjoy the health benefits of kayaking and being part of the race even if you’re not in it for the competition.

Cost is $25 with pre-registration, which includes the race, t-shirt and refreshments. Deadline for pre-registration is July 23. Registration for the day of the event is $30. Bring your family & friends. The Barbara J. will be running a special ride beginning st 8:45 am for spectators to view the race from the lake for their usual fee of $10 (kids $5, 5 and under, free)

According to Sandy Porter, co-chair of the event, the Paddlefest will be a day of the community getting together, enjoying our beautiful lake and surrounding area. There will be additional events going on that day for participants and families to enjoy, details to be announced as plans unfold.

Proceeds from the Paddlefest will help our Historical Society maintain and expand our museum, preserve our artifacts, and support our outreach efforts in the community, according to Julia Catalano, co-chair of the Paddlefest and President of the Historical Society.
