The building is handicapped accessible.

New Items

We are excited to announce two new items for purchase. We have a new "Find a Word" book -- with all the words associated with Conneaut Lake. It has 52 different puzzles, plus a page about the historical society's museum and a page of black and white pictures. The book includes all different types of categories: Names of teachers, members of the state champion sports teams, Conneaut Lake Park rides, etc. It is quite unique, and we are selling it for only $3. Makes a great Christmas gift for young and old alike. In addition to being fun to play, we are hopeful that families and or groups of people will talk about the names and educate themselves about our history. Check it out at our upcoming sale on Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or at the November meeting or call Jane Smith at 337-6377. You can also order it on-line. We hope to have it available at some Conneaut Lake businesses and will keep you posted!

The second new items is a Wendell August Forge Christmas ornament featuring a picture of the Beach Club. If you have special memories of the Beach Club, it is sure to bring back those memories. It will be only $20 and available by contacting Jane Smith at 337-6377 or at grandmagjane@zoominternet.net or ordering on-line.

Christmas Sale

The annual "Small Business Sale" is set for Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum at 150 N. Third St., Conneaut Lake. In addition to our two new items, we will have some "one of a kind" items -- which includes some inventory that we only have a few items -- a deck of cards, set of coasters, and such. We also will have some old souvenir plates from the 1900s from Exposition Park -- all one of a kind. These are limited and quite unique.

However, we also have the Conneaut Lake and Pymatuning clocks ($85) , large three-dimensional pictures ($150)  and 8 by 10 (unframed) three-dimensional pictures ($45) as well as numerous books -- ranging from $1 to $30. Another new items this year (we only have one of each in stock) are cribbage boards featuring the three dimensional of the lake -- be it Conneaut Lake or Pymatuning. They are $50.

If you are interested in the one-of-kind items and can't make the sale, contact Jane Smith at 333-6377. We will do everything we can to accommodate schedules and get those gifts to you for that special someone!

We have many t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies available. However, they are limited in size and color, so if you are interested in ordering one, contact Jane and she will take care of you so you can the one you want for that special gift!
Many of these items are available only at the museum or a Conneaut Lake business which offers to help sell them. The three-dimensional items are available on-line at the company which designed and made them, but the price is much higher as we get a special rate as we buy them in bulk.

However, the "bulk" isn't very many, so if you are interested, please contact Jane ASAP so nobody is disappointed!

That said, we hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

New Research Tool Available

For those looking to do research, we now have all the copies of the Conneaut Lake Breeze from 1922 to 1985 as well as the successors to that newspaper, the Linesville Herald and the Community News in a digitized form. That means you can call up a year, type in a word (such as Hotel Conneaut) and whatever was in the paper that year will pop up and you can print it (or just read it).

It is an exciting new tool for us, and we are thrilled to offer it to the public. Right now, it is only available at the museum, but future plans are to add it to our Web site so you can access it on-line.

Cribbage Boards
We have a special new gift for sale: Cribbage boards featuring the 3-D outline of Conneaut Lake and./or Pymatuning Lake.
These are unique and would make great gifts for those who love the lake and playing cribbage. Cost is only $50.
We only have three of these available at this time -- two of Conneaut Lake and one Pymatuning Lake.
However, we can order more, but it takes about two months so if you are interested in one as a Christmas gift, please contact Jane Smith at 337-6377.

New Meeting Place
We now have a new site for our monthly meetings. Since the Conneaut Lake Park VFD hall has closed, we had to look for a new site. Conneaut Lake Sportsmen's Club has graciously offered its clubhouse to us. It is located off Route 18 on Sportsmen's Road. Please spread the word. Our meetings are the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. and are open to the public, free of charge.

Luty Book Now Available
Years ago, Bronson Luty wrote a book, "The Lake as it Was," a informal and memoir of Conneaut Lake, and it quickly became very popular and was out of print. We asked the Luty family to have it reprinted and it is now available.
Cost is $20, plus $1.20 and if mailed, $3 for mailing.
It is a neat book and gives a lot of history of the town and the area as well as many pictures.
It is a soft cover and is 110 pages.
If you are interested, you can contact Jane Smith at 337-6377; Julia Catalano at 724-9841. It also is available at the Tattered Corners Book Shop in Meadville or the Crawford County Historical Society or at our museum when it opens in May.
Proceeds from the book sold by Jane or at the museum benefit our society.

New Gift Items
We recently purchased a number of specialty t-shirts and golf shirts from Stitch Art and are offering them to our guests. They are in various sizes, styles and colors, but cannot be special ordered. Most have just the wording Conneaut Lake (not historical society). Some have special beads that make the t-shirts a little dressier. The golf shirts have Conneaut Lake on the front in the pocket area and are in different colors.
If you are interested, stop at the museum and check them out. They are really neat!
