George Rutherford at 814.382.7761

We were pleasantly surprised recently when just before Christmas our president, George Rutherford, received a phone call from Anita Hans, manager of Marquette Savings Bank, to say she had a check for us!

A group of us went to the bank and George and vice president Dave Lynch accepted the check for $1,000! We were thrilled to say the least.

Anita said she was so pleased when she received word to make $5,000 in donations to Conneaut Lake area organizations and we were one of five who received checks to help in our cause.

In addition to our society, checks also went to Shontz Memorial Library, The Samaritans, Linesville Food Pantry (which serves Conneaut Lake) and the Salvation Army.

We were thrilled not only with the check - which will be put to good use - but also with the recognition it represented. We are so pleased to be able to continue to preserve our history and the $1,000 will help to continue to make that goal a reality. Founded in 1999, the society now enters its 12th year and we continue to improve the former community hall, which was converted into a museum in 2003.

We express appreciation to Marquette for the continued support of our efforts.
