Liberty, The Second

Liberty The Second

Lakeland Museum is also a part of the historical society and home of " Liberty the Second ", the 1922 race boat. Liberty The Second sank during a test run in 1922 and it remained on the bottom of Conneaut Lake in 48' of water and 6' of silt for 63 years (22,945 days). In July of 1985 the boat was raised by divers William H. Houghton and Bryan Simpson. Above the boat just minutes after being raised from the bottom of the lake.The boat is on display at the new Lakeside Museum in its new location on the waterfront in Conneaut Lake Park.

Museum hours are from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays

Liberty The Second will be on special display on Saturday, June 25, 2005, during the Classic Boat to commemorate the 20th year of it's raising.
