Lash Gives History Of Conneaut Lake Sportsmen’s Club

Dave Lash, president of the Conneaut Lake Sportsmen’s Club, was guest speaker at our October meeting. He told about the organization, founded in 1939. It has more than 200 members and is in charge of 42 acres of land. Its purpose is to promote conservation and sportsmanship. The club conducts various safety courses for youth and has a number of family events throughout the year.

New Gift Items Available

We have three new gift items – all related to the Woolly Mammoth - for sale.

The first is a lollipop shaped like a Woolly Mammoth and comes in various flavors. Cost is $2. Please add 50 cents for shipping. (Sorry you can’t dictate flavor as we have a limited supply of these and can’t guarantee a flavor.)

The second is a wooden dinosaur puzzle for $7.50 plus 45 cents tax. To have it shipped, please add another $1.50. This is a good item where children can construct a dinosaur.

The third is a wooden-type statute of a Woolly Mammoth at a cost of $10, plus 60 cents tax. Add another $1.50 for shipping.

If you are in Crawford County and want to purchase any of these and save shipping costs, contact Jane Smith at 337-6377 and she will make arrangements to meet you or get the item to you at no further costs.

New Cemetery Records Available

During the past month, we have acquired a complete set of records of burials in Greenwood Township cemeteries.

We also have compiled the list of burials in Barber Cemtery.

See the listing under Cemeteries or you can do research at the museum upon request for appointment to meet somebody there.

Adopt a Block Campaign

Last month we started a campaign to raise $11,000 to finish painting the rest of the museum to match the front. So far, we have raised $500. We would love to see us meet our goal by spring so we can complete this beautification project.

Although we are calling it “adopt a block,” you don’t have to take the block home or paint it. Just donate $2 for each block and we will record your name as a donor.

Donations may be sent to PO Box 425, Conneaut Lake, Pa., l6335. Please mark your check “adopt a block” or painting project. There is no limit to the number of blocks you can purchase. A form can be printed out from here.

If you are looking for a last-minute tax deduction, this is a perfect place to do that. It gives you a break on your taxes, helps us with our project and makes downtown Conneaut Lake look a little brighter.

We are a 501-c-3 organization, which allows tax deductions to be made to us.

Thank you in advance for your donation or consideration.

Christmas Dinner Will be at Pelican’s Landing

Our annual Christmas dinner/party is set for Dec. 21 Pelican’s Landing Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. Because of limited space, only 50 reservations can be made. Dinner is stuffed chicken breast with potatoes, vegetable, dessert, etc. Price is $11.65. To make a reservation, contact Kate Hilton at 814-382-7283. This is for members and their guests. Payment must be received by Nov. 16 so the reservations can be made.

Mystery Item

Pictured below is something left at the door of the museum. It measures about 26 inches in length. If anybody knows what this is or where it came from, please contact Jean Shanley at 337-6377 so we can property archive it. Thank you.
