Special Shopping Hours at Museum

The Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society will hold special shopping hours for the Christmas season to allow people to purchase the special items it offers for sale.

Although the museum is closed for the winter, the office will be open on Monday, Nov. 30; Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays, Dec. 5 and 12, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Those interested in purchasing items may enter through the office door.

The society has several of the specially double matted framed pictures of the four historic buildings at Conneaut Lake Park available for purchase without special orders. They are $229.

Although the museum is closed for the winter, special tours can be arranged by calling George Rutherford at 382-7761.

Campaign for Painting Museum

The society started a campaign to raise $11,000 to paint the rest of the former community hall to match the new look on the front of the building.

As of Nov. 17, the total donated is $900. We are pleased with the progress being made and hope it continues so we can proceed with the rest of the painting project next spring.

Anyone wishing to donate for the project may send checks to Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society, PO Box 425, Conneaut Lake, Pa., l6316.

It is designed as an "adopt a block" campaign with blocks costing $2 or. We have had numerous donations (see listing under donation category on our Web site.)

However, you can donate whatever amount you would like. If you need a last-minute income tax deduction, this is availalbe.

We are a 501-c-3 organization, meaning all donations are tax deductible.So you can get a tax deduction and help paint the rest of the building as well.

Liberty Book Planned

Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of the raising of the Liberty the Second boat and we will celebrate it with the "Year of the Liberty" with special speakers and a special commemorative book.

The publishing committee is in the process of putting the book together and will sell ads to help offset the cost.
