Special Donation from Marquette Bank

Marquette Bank once again surprised us with a $900 donation for our “fine work.” Last year, we were one of the several recipients and we are honored to be chosen again this year.

We appreciate the gift, but also the recognition give to us for our work.

A picture of the check presentation to President George Rutherford is featured in the Community News.

Another Donation

We also received another special donation from Derik Lynch in honor of his dad, Dave, and Kathy for their Christmas gift. His $250 donation now will be matched by Exxon as part of their special program. Exxon donates to chose non-profit groups when their employees or retirees as a matching gift.

We also will receive a matching donation from Dave and Kathy as well for donations they made to the society.

Needless to say, we appreciate all donations!

Christmas Party

Fifty-eight of us joined together for our annual Christmas dinner. This year we went to the Iroquois Club and had a delicious dinner and wonderful atmosphere. After dinner, Carolyn Melby played Christmas songs and led us in singing of the familiar holiday songs. We had a fun time singing “Twelve Days of Christmas.” Hale Jenkins won the door prize – a print of Kate Hilton’s. Bob Disko was chairman this year and was assisted by George Rutherford and Bobbie Moyers.

Improvements Are Done

Two major improvements are now complete at the museum. A new roof was installed, replacing the old roof. The new one is white versus the old black roof and is very attractive.

In addition, a new heating system was installed in the office, boat room and the museum. All totaled, the cost was in excess of $15,000.

The good news is it is all paid for – from savings we have made every year since we started in 1999! We hope the new improvements also reduce the energy costs and make it more comfortable in the office and museum.

We thank everybody for all their support over the years which have allowed us to save the money to do these major improvements without having to borrow money.

Now, we will be working to rebuild our savings for future unexpected emergencies.
