MINUTES Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society Board Meeting - Dec. 4, 2006 Museum Attending: Jane Smith, Don Clark, George Rutherford, Nancy Coleman, Bobbie Moyers, Bill Cooper, Alan Moss, Wayne Koch, Bill Brown, Hale Jenkins, Jean Shanley President Jane Smith called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. In the absence of the secretary, reading of the previous meeting was dispensed and Bobbie Moyers was appointed secretary pro-term. Correspondence - thank-you from Jane Henry for certificate of appreciation. Treasurer's report was given: Income for month of Nov. $791.38; expenses $1,586.65. A CD for $4,500 was purchased. Report was approved by motion made by Don Clark; seconded by Hale. REPORTS Archives - a duck pin for bowling from CLP was received. Exhibits - exterior doors were caulked to reduce heat loss, some exhibits were cleaned and rearranged. Finance - will meet 3rd Thursday, Jan. 18th. Alan called for committee budgets for 2007. Interviews - continuing. New tapes and batteries will be purchased for tape recorder. Liberty II - Bill reported that Kalie Belle is parked by museum blocking entrance to the museum. Jane will check with Leroy. Long Range Planning - Heater in the garage is set at 60 degrees, museum at 55 for the winter. Bill proposes a project for later in the winter that would relocate the water pipe on the exterior garage in the spring and add shut-off vales at an estimated cost of $300-400. Motion made by Jean; seconded by Wayne. For now, wrapping the pipe with heat tape was suggested. Membership- new memberships are being received for 2007 Program - Programs for 2007:
Projects - open for Christmas hours Refreshments for Jan. - Glendora Research - focus continues on several areas - businesses, cemeteries, Protective coverings were added for maps. OLD BUSINESS Micro fiber cloths continue to be sold. Those with unsold cloths should turn them in for redistribution to businesses where they continue to be sold. Family Festival - not much action until after holidays. Raffle tickets for a hot air balloon ride was considered as an addition part of the event. Dinner - 45 reservations for Dec. 18th dinner at Stable Pit 'n Pub at 6PM. NEW BUSINESS Jane sold 2 books and gift item at the CC Historical Society Book Sale. Auction proceeds now at $2670 with check from Egyuds for $345. New shelves were purchased for the office. Dehumidifier is a consideration for the museum since many items showed evidence of mold this summer. Deferred until next spring. Newsletter - someone has offered to assist Jane. Carrie Pavlik will be sent $50 for the printing of her book on ghosts in consideration of her cooperation during historical society events at CLP. Motion made by Alan; seconded by Wayne. Insurance for Officers and Directors has increased from $744 in 2006 to $837 for 2007. Board agreed to its necessity and approved the cost. Agent is B.J. Petruso. Motion by George; seconded by Don. Quilt Show was discussed with several questions that will be deferred to Wilma. She will be asked to attend next board meeting. $10 was paid to CC Convention and Tourist Bureau's for publicity in new directory. Nominating Committee - will be named in Feb. McQuiston House Tour- for small group (30?) from the historical society is possible in the spring. Mr. Herrmann, the owner, has offered the tour but is hoping that the historical society may have historical information about the house. Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM by a motion made by George; seconded by Bill and passed unanimously. |
