No Meetings Until
March 2026

We always take the winter months off, so there won't be any meetings in December, January, or February

About Us.jpg

Enjoy Winter

As is our tradition, there will be no monthly meetings starting in December and through February.

We decided years ago to skip the heavy winter months to eliminate possible weather-related conditioner and having to cancel.

We will resume regular meetings the third Monday in March at 7 p.m. at Conneaut Lake Sportsman's Club.

We hope you enjoy your winter.

Christmas is coming!

The historical society will again participated in the National Small business Sale Day on Nov. 29 -- the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.that day for shopping!

We have lost of items to sell -- for kids and adults alike.

By popular request, we have added puzzles for kids as well as two different sizes of stuffed Woolly Mammoths (baby and papa), t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts.

For adults,we have all types of t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies -- both with zippers and without.

We also have a popular 1/4 zipper sweatshirt.

All the clothing is reasonably priced and good quality.

Prices for clothing range from $8 to $20 for kids and $10 to $30 for adults.

Puzzles for toddlers are of a Woolly Mammoth.

We also have Woolly Mammoth puzzles for older kids and adults as well as ones of the miniature train at Conneaut Lake Park and of the Barbara J.

The gift shop also has many books, ornaments, baseball caps, grippers, three-dimensional clocks and pictures showing the depths of Conneaut Lake and Pymatuning Lake.

We have a limited number of tile coasters lefts as well as a number of magnets -- the Liberty the Second boat, the gazebo and pictures of the lighted Christmas trees.

For the "hard to buy for" people on the list, you might consider a wine opener, deck of cards featuring 52 different scenes of Conneaut Lake as well as shot glasses.

We still have a limited supply of the engraved Pilsner glasses and wine glasses. They both come in sets of two in nice box.The Pilsner glasses include one engraved with the Blue Streak and the other, the Tumble Bug. The wine glasses are both the Blue Streak.

As you can see, we have a wide range of gifts and wide range of prices -- from $2 to $210.

Please stop and check out our selection. They are gifts you won't find anywhere else and there is something for everybody!

Speciality Items

We have been given a number of "speciality items" for us to sell by two area businesses.

Lavender Blue, which closed its Conneaut Lake store, donated a number of sweat-shirts to us with various Conneaut Lake lettering. Very unique and a little different than ours.

Susy Shrock, owner of Your Image, is closing her display room and is donating a wide variety of specialty items.

She is engraving many of them, so we will get them as she finishes those.

WE anticipate some will be ready for both the days we are open for selling items.

Check us out as we offer these limited items.

We thank both of these woman for the opportunities to offer some unique items that ordinarily we wouldn't have.

Ice House Festival

We will be open during the Ice House Festival on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.to about 2.

We will have free hot chocolate and cookies and a limited supply of ice cream cups.

The ice cream was donated by the Midway Civic Club so we are passing it onto our guests on a first-come,first serve basis.

Christmas Trees Display

We will once again have the museum decorated with Christmas trees.

Anyone wishing to decorate a tree may bring it to the museum on Nov. 15.

Trees will be on display through the Ice House Festival.

There is no charge to decorate a tree.

It's very easy.

You can vote once a day, every day through November (except Sundays and Thanksgiving).

All organizations receive some money-- depending on the number of votes received.

So, please take a moment and cast a vote for us!

Thanks in advance.

Military Banner Program

he society is hosting a program to erect military banners in downtown Conneaut Lake.

We have orders for 58 banners and are now processing those orders and getting them made.

They will be put up next May.

This program is designed to honor our veterans and is not a fundraising project.

Thanks to everyone who ordered a banner.

It will be beautiful to see the banners with pictures of veterans displayed in our town in the future.

Ice House Festival

The museum will be open on Saturday, Dec. 7, starting at 10 a.m. in conjunction with the downtown Ice House Festival.

Stop by and warm up with hot chocolate and a cookie -- free of charge.

You can see the great display of Christmas trees and lights, see the other exhibits and buy something in our gift shop!

Spread the word.

The museum is open free of charge as well.

Save the date

Save the date of Dec. 16 for our annual Christmas dinner at the Iroquois Club.

It is open to all members and guests.

The menu will be announced shortly and reservations can be made.

Exhibits

The exhibit committee has made a few changes in the displays this year.

The military display has been changed to add a sculpture, "The Perpetual Soldier,"which is absolutely beautiful.

It was sculpted by Donald Valentine Jr. and is a life-size statue of a soldier in khaki uniform.

The exhibit area was expanded as we moved the clothing rack to make more room.

Pictures of the Century Buildings honored lat year are displayed so everyone can see what they look like -- and consider nominating other 100-year (or older) buildings for consideration in 2025.

Did you know a man who used to live in Conneaut Lake was a National Rifle Shooting Champion in the early 1900s?

Some of the loving cups by J. P. Ittel are displayed along with other memorabilia showcasing his accomplishments.

Mr. Ittel also made a model of a famous church in Normandy where paratroopers landed on D-Day.It also has been donated to use and isdislayed near the church section -- reminding us how important churches area.

Please take a few minutes to stop by the museum and see all the exhibits.

And, check out the new cubby holes which has all our clothing arranged neatly for easy shopping.

Crawford Gives is Coming

The annual Crawford Gives program of the Crawford County Heritage Community Foundation is set for August 12 through Aug. 15.

The program is simple.  People may send donations designated for the historical society o the Foundation on those days via check or call with credit card or go to office with cash.

Once the program is over, the foundation tabulates all the donations and then adds a percentage to the total (based on funds donated for this program by sponsors) and then sends us a check for the new total. It usually is about 3 percent and we get it within a few months.

It is an easy way for the society to raise funds and all donations are tax deductible

Please mark your calendars and consider making a one-time donation.

Thank you in advance,
