Aldenia Never Became a Village, But It is still a nice place to visit.
July 17th
Jonathan Helmreich will portray Timothy Alden as he tells about plans to establish a village in the area, "Aldenia Never Became a Village, But It is still a nice place to visit."
Our monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Sportsman's Club in Conneaut Lake. It is open to public free of charge. Hall is handicapped accessible and smoke free. Refreshments will follow the program.

New Gift Idea
We have another new unique gift item to offer. Nancy Asmus has designed a new 52 by 70-inch throw with 30 pictures of Conneaut Lake Park items that are featured in her book about Conneaut Lake Park. Cost is $135 plus tax. It is beautiful and would make a great gift -- for yourself or somebody else. The book, "Conneaut Lake Park, a Keepsake in My Heart," also is available for $20, plus tax.
Clocks
Unfortunately, we have to increase our price for the Conneaut Lake and Pymatuning clocks.
The vendor increased our cost and the postage increase so we have no choice but to add that cost.
Clocks now are $100 plus $6 tax.
We are sorry. We still believe they are a nice gift.

This gift has been one of our biggest sellers and we hope it will continue. We just got a new shipment so stop by the museum and check them out!
Crawford Gives is Coming
Crawford Gives is a special program offered by Crawford Heritage Community Foundation to benefit non-profits in Crawford County.
​
People are invited to make donations through checks, credit card or cash. The foundation then adds a percentage (I think it was 6 percent last year) and sends the total to the non-profit. All checks should be made out to the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation and marked for the Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society.
​
The donations must be made during the three-day event, Sunday, Aug. 27; Monday, Aug. 28; and Tuesday, Aug. 29. All checks must be received by Aug. 29. Credit card donations may be made by going to: www.crawfordgives.org.
​
Checks may be mailed in August -- but dated one of the three days of the event. This ensures the checks should arrive in time. Checks should be mailed to Crawford Heritage Community Foundation, P.O. Box 933, Meadville, Pa., 16335. Donations may be taken to the office during the three-day event at 415 Chestnut St., Meadville.

As you know, all donations are tax-deductible.

Strategic Plan
The board has adopted its new strategic plan for 2024 through 2030.
It describes the goals for the society.
Memories of Hotel Conneaut
If you or someone you know has memories of special events at Hotel Conneaut, we have the perfect item for you.

Raffle Tickets for Special Pens
Tim McKay has made five ballpoint pens from wood from the Blue Streak. We are selling raffle tickets with three of them to be awarded Labor Day and the other two during PUmpkinfest.
Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. You have your choice of which raffle to buy the tickets (you can mix them).

Two New Items in Gift Shop
We have two new items available for purchase.

After we offered the Pilsner glasses, we had numerous requests for wine glasses as people said they prefer wine over beer. So we decided to offer wine glasses as well as the Pilsner glasses.
​
The Wendell August wine glasses are those without the steams. They include medallions of the Blue Streak on them.
​
They come in a set of two and are in a nice black cardboard box. It also includes a note card with a picture of the Blue Steak and a brief history of the popular ride.
​
We believe they are beautiful gifts for yourself or others as you enjoy your favorite wine and possibly reminisce about the Blue Streak and your great memories of Conneaut Lake Park.
​
Cost is $45 plus $2.70 tax. If you want them shipped, please add another $11.00.
​
If you need them before May 6 (the day the museum opens), please call Jane Smith at 814-337-6377 and arrangements can be made to get them sooner.
​
And, don't forget, if you are a member, you receive a 10 percent discount on all purchases.

The second new item is a "gripper," -- the item you use to open jars that the lids are on too tight.
The gripper is blue in color with the words "Get a grip on life at Conneaut Lake" with the historical society logo in the center.
​
It is designed for functional use, but also as a memento of your visit to the museum or a reminder of life in Conneaut Lake.
​
Cost is only $2 plus 12 cents tax and $1 shipping.
​

We are always accepting new members. Cost is only $12 a year or $150 for a lifetime.

Ornaments
We have our new Dreamland Ballroom ornaments still available at $12, plus 72 cents tax as well.
They have been well received as people told us about their grandparents and/or parents having met there. One woman said how thrilled her grandmother was with it.

As you know, you don't have to wait until Christmas to display them. They are ornaments but can be displayed at any time.
​
We think they make a nice memory of days gone by at that beautiful dance hall.
