Our monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Sportsman's Club in Conneaut Lake. It is open to public free of charge. Hall is handicapped accessible and smoke free. Refreshments will follow the program.

Palmiero Toyota Program
We are once again enrolled in the Give Back program sponsored by Palmiero-Toyota.
It kicks off Nov. 1 and runs through the month.
Here's how it works:
There are boxes lined up on a table with different organizations names on them.
You go in the showroom closest to the Conneaut Lake end. There is a ticket dispenser (much like you use at a hospital ER.) You take a ticket, drop it in the box marked Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society and leave.
Easy!
There is no pressure from salesmen or others to look at or purchase a vehicle. In fact, often you don't even come into contact with anybody. There are no business cards or names given.
The organization with the most votes wins $2,500 which is often matched by Toyota corporation to make it $5,000.
People can vote once a day -- every day, except Sunday and Thanksgiving, through Thanksgiving weekend.
Those who don't win the big prize are awarded lower amounts of cash prizes -- depending on the number of votes.

Christmas Tree Exhibits at Museum
Three years ago we started a new program at the museum during the holiday season.
We have decorated trees on display for visitors to come and see.
Anyone may decorate a tree and have on display.
Those wishing to have trees on exhibit may take them to the museum by 10 a.m. on Nov. 11. Trees will then be put on display in the vestibule and around the museum.
The museum will be open Nov. 18 from 1 to 5 p.m., Nov. 19 from 2 to 5 pm. Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (also the date of our annual Christmas sale; Nov. 26 from 2 to 5 pm. and Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (also the day of the Ice House Festival).
This year we are having a "People's Choice" award. Visitors may vote for their favorite tree and the winner will be announced at 1:30 on Dec. 2.
Those who have trees on display may pick them up after the Ice House Festival and before Dec. 16. This will allow the exhibit committee space to begin work on the spring exhibits.
If you can't deliver your tree on Nov. 11, please contact Judy Groger at 814-382-8722 to make an appointment to do so before that date!
Ice House Festival
The historical society will offer free hot chocolate and cookies during the Ice House Festival on Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The museum will be open as well for visitors to see our rich history, "ride" the Blue Streak and play skeeball.
We have an original Blue Streak car that visitors can sit in an watch a video of the Blue Streak "and ride" along with it.
It has been a big hit for visitors as they reminisce about the days gone by.
One often repeated phrase when they get done is "my back and neck don't hurt on this ride."
We invite you to stop and "ride" free of charge!
Christmas Dinner
Our annual Christmas dinner for members and guests is Monday, Dec. 18, at the Iroquois Club.
Menu choices are stuffed chicken breast, pork loin on Mediterranean sole.
Reservations are needed by Dec. 5
Cost is $26 for chicken or pork and $28.50 for the fish.
The price includes tax and gratuity.
Social hour is at 5:30 followed by dinner at 6:15.

New Puzzle
If you have memories of riding the miniature train at Conneaut Lake Park, you will love our new jigsaw puzzle -- a picture of the train. It is 150 pieces. Cost is $10, plus 60 cents tax. If you want it mailed, add $4 shipping. It will make a great gift!
Christmas Ornaments
We have three new ornaments for Christmas this year -- two which were introduced in the spring: Hotel Conneaut and Dreamland Ballroom -- and a new one, which will be available at Pumpkin Fest. It will be of the miniature train.
They are all bound to bring great memories of visits to Conneaut Lake Park.

Cost remains at $12 plus 72 cents tax.

Unfortunately, the shipping fee has increased to $3.00.
Small Business Sale
We will once again have our Small Business Saturday Sale on Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We often call it our Pre-Christmas sale as it is a time to buy great gifts just in time for Christmas.
Our gift shop includes unique items that are related to Conneaut Lake, but are loved by many people who may not be from here.

Gifts range from $2 to $150 and include grippers, books, clothing, ornaments, clocks, pictures and more!

Ice House Festival
The museum will be open during the Ice House Festival Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
We will be serving hot chocolate and cookies -- free of charge.
Stop in and see our decorated Christmas trees and the museum -- and our gift shop.
New Membership Policy
The board has adopted a new policy regarding membership renewals.
In the past, members have been kept on the rolls for three years without payment before they were removed from the rolls.

Because of insurance rules, that has been changed.
​
Members will be advised in the September newsletter about dues being payable for the following year.
All annual dues are due by January 1 of each year.
Members who don't pay by Jan. 15th will be notified.
​
The final notice will be given March 1st and if no payment is received by March 31, your name will be removed from our rolls.

We are always accepting new members. Cost is only $12 a year or $150 for a lifetime.
